Santa Fe, Argentina Objective Aortic valve replacement is the treatment of choice in patients with aortic stenosis. However, a significant number of patients are not candidates for surgery due to high surgical risk and to the presence of comorbidites. Percutaneous aortic valve replacement represents an alternative option to conventional aortic valve surgery for selected high risk patients.

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: A Review Article
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a novel therapeutic intervention for the replacement of severely stenotic aortic valves in high-risk patients for standard surgical procedures. Since the initial PARTNER trial results, use of TAVR has been on the rise each year. New delivery methods and different valves have been developed and modified in order to promote the minimally invasive p...

Aortic valve stenosis is increasing in frequency as the population ages. Surgical aortic valve replacement is the gold standard for symptomatic patients with severe aortic valve stenosis. However, in a subset of high-risk patients, the surgical option is excluded due to severe comorbidities. Recently, an alternative to surgical aortic valve replacement--percutaneous aortic valve replacement (PA...
متن کاملSimultaneous percutaneous transcatheter aortic valve replacement and endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair in a high risk patient with hostile aortic neck, a case report
BACKGROUND Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) can be a potential life threatening condition if left untreated. Total endovascular techniques to approach aortic aneurysms have extended management options and enabled patients who are unfit for open surgery to undergo repair. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement is increasingly used to treat patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis, who onc...

Surgical aortic valve replacement (AVR) is the standard of care for patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis (AS), providing relief of symptoms and prolonging survival. However, many patients are either denied or not offered surgery due to high surgical risk or non-operability for open AVR. The technology of percutaneous aortic valve implantation emerged in 2002, and has since evolved r...

Background: Balloon valvuloplasty is a relatively new technique for relief of obstruction of aortic valve. The primary results of this procedure are similar to surgical valvotomy with fewer complications and mortality. Materials and methods: One hundred fifty-five patients with congenital aortic stenosis were enrolled in this study over a period of 6 years (1991-1997). Participants were all un...
